This book was an absolute MASTERPIECE! It was exciting, tense and genius, and the more I read the more I got hooked by the story. This book can be a little intimidating at times mainly due to the incredibly specific and technical descriptions the author gives about things like submarine engines or the structure of sonar systems. Also the author uses a lot of characters in order to tell the story from different perspectives as it goes along, this can result a little bit overwhelming since the book jumps from character to character quite a bit, but the plot is structured in a way in which if the reader is paying attention he will be able to see how each perspective contributes to the story as a whole; this is what makes the storytelling in this book so brilliant. The characters are outstanding and every single one of them is unique and clever in their own way and because of this most of the plans and strategies they come up with are just genius. This is military thriller so there are very tense moments in the story but the excitment they give you is worth all the tension and there were moments in which I was physically incapable of putting this book down; it is quite long, but I enjoyed every second spent on it.
